Thanks for Saving the Dads Trust!

Father and Child Trust are pleased to announce, they are not closing their Auckland office. Three permanent roles and one in Christchurch were due to end with January. Board Chairman Mark Davies has extended the roles at their current hours until at least 21st March 2014.

Struggling to fund one front line support worker for all of Auckland, The trust has been recognised by key funders, COGS, Blue Sky and Lion Foundation, with personal donations of $500 from two clients, they have been able to keep their door open and even celebrate Xmas with a BBQ.

By early March, Father and Child Trust will know what to expect from major funders including Lotteries and Dragon, who provided vital support to keep the doors open before Christmas. Father and Child also has offers to assist from Hon. Sam Lotu-Linga and Hon. Carole Beaumont.

Carole Beaumont, Moses Paaka, Sam Lotu-Linga and Kevin Spencer at Father and Child’s end of year BBQ…

Both were attendees at the ‘Fathers’ Mauri Ora Circle’, end of year BBQ. They heard from Dads who have struggled to find help in their role as a parent, especially to keep in touch with their children. Both have promised to assist if they can, in directing Father and Child to sustainable funding.

With their kind support and the ongoing efforts of Father and Child staff, to find and secure further funding, free information and support for all dads will remain available in Auckland.
