Father and Child Trust have identified the need for more young dad support services in Auckland City.

‘Teen Dad Dreams’ is now every Monday 4-6pm in the Panmure Community Hall, there will be fathers, support workers, free food and info about dads issues…

This group aims to be a safe place for all paternal aspirations.

We may talk about teen dad situations, whanau, whether their kids need anything special, parenting issues including discipline, removal of anger from parenting, and any issues from their parenting past.
Sometimes we help with Child Youth and Family and Family Group Conferences, occasionally we help with the Legal or courts liaison etc.

We also offer a Parenting correspondence course tailored for dads. It has ten modules on parenting and we expect them to do one a week, they get a certificate when it is finished. Many of our course subscribers do this from prison.

Plus we are hoping the young dads will help us do a video, or their own music/rap with Beats n Pieces music producer Pauli Horgan.

We occasionally find other solo dads these guys connect with. We share an understanding of Post Natal Depression and other related family challenges. We have our dads support group every Wednesday night in Onehunga. It is a safe place for any dad issues, mainly older dads, peer support and lots of dads helping other dads etc.
