This year’s Father’s Day event was organised by the dads.

Mike, Frank, Aaron and Josh – along with several helpers, planned and coordinated a great day for all who attended. Mat Scott put the food on his credit card to get things started, we printed and hand distributed many flyers. Frank worked the internet and Meetup, sole parents and related groups.

At Ambury Park, a perfect venue, a warm day and over 70 people turned up!

Two dads combined their savings to pay for a bouncy castle, this made for a bit of fun getting the power right, then tons of fun for all the kids.

Leighton manned the BBQ and Josh paroled the crowd. Drinks, Sausages, steak sandwiches were prepared and all sold, not sure if we made a profit, but certainly the vibe and togetherness were obvious and lots of people said they had a great time.

Spot prizes from the LookSharpStore at 140 Onehunga Mall were awarded and appreciated. New lambs were patted and the people operating the venue were really nice and helped.

Frank said “The whole thing went well considering we had two weeks notice and little funding and if course it was our first attempt. Next year it’ll be an event 100 times better. Hopefully one day it’ll rival anything on offer that day.”
